Welcome to this brief description of research activities of students, staff, and faculty of our College of Engineering. We have tried to make your access to this information easy and convenient.
We are eager to share our discoveries with you. We also want to take on new projects. Research is an important facet of engineering education excellence at Iowa State University. We are delighted with the opportunities we have to partner with government and industrial units to find new knowledge and to apply technology in clever and useful ways.
Faculty and staff of the college are principal investigators of our research projects. They are teamed with graduate and undergraduate student researchers. In addition to being affiliated with academic departments, these researchers are frequently associated with research centers of the college (e.g., Electric Power Research Center) and the university (e.g., Information Assurance Center, Center for Transportation Research and Education, Center for Industrial Research and Service, the Institute for Physical Research and Technology, the Institute for Combinatorial Discovery, the Institute for Information Infrastructure, the Institute for Food Safety and Security, and the Plant Sciences Institute). A number of our faculty are also affiliated with the Ames Laboratory of the U.S. Department of Energy.
Featured in this summary are some research expenditure and graduate degree completion data that illustrate current and past levels of college activity.
A directory of faculty is available for each academic department. Also included is a list of recent doctoral dissertations.
