Iowa State University’s College of Engineering and College of Liberal Arts and Sciences are pleased to announce the 12th Annual Colloquium on International Engineering Education. This year’s theme is Engineering for the Future—Global Pathways. The colloquium will be held October 22-25, 2009, at the Gateway Hotel and Conference Center in Ames, Iowa.

Why attend?

In cooperation with the International Engineering Program at the University of Rhode Island and the Steering Committee, the colloquium will provide a forum for leaders from universities, government, industry, and nonprofits to discuss and share ideas and best practices pertaining to the education of engineers for today’s global workplace.

The 2009 meeting will focus on identifying key issues related to Engineering for the Future, as well as the Global Pathways that will empower students to meet those challenges: Global Sustainability and International Development, Technology and the Global Workforce, World Languages and Cultures in Engineering Education, Entrepreneurship, and Student Engagement. The colloquium will also continue discussions from the NSF Summit Meeting on the globalization of engineering education convened last year at the 11th Annual Colloquium in Newport, Rhode Island. Participants are encouraged to read the report of the summit, "Educating Engineers as Global Citizens: A Call for Action," in preparation for the 12th Annual Colloquium.
