  • Feedback Process Informing Change

It is the responsibility of each engineering program to develop an appropriate feedback process for informing change in their curricula. The COE provides yearly feedback related to the Fundamental of Engineering Examination results and the Online Performance and Learning results as discussed in the Measurement of Outcomes and Results section. The COE Director of Assessment and a graduate assistant are also available for assistance.

From the measurement of the outcomes and interpretation of the results, each engineering program has made curriculum/course/instruction changes that follow logically from the results; are consistent with state-of-the-art pedagogy; and demonstrably improve learning. Based on assessment results, programs have made improvements such as: implementing aspects of communication in engineering courses, integrating service learning in the learning community, starting a dual-advising system utilizing faculty and a full-time coordinator, hiring a faculty member with project management skills, adding a safety awareness competency, shifting some credit from lower-level required courses to senior level elective courses, team teaching a course with several international universities to improve global enterprise perspectives, dropping a course due to significant overlap with other courses in a series, and archiving department assessment information on the Web. Further department specific information is available in Program Assessment.
