Planning Process
The 2005 strategic planning process started with the arrival of the new
dean in January 2005. It began with reflection on the college's
strengths and aspirations, including meetings among college academic
administrators, Department Chairs, the Academic Council, and each
department. This followed the University's 2005-2010 strategic
planning, and thus was informed by the vision, mission, culture, core
values, priorities, and goals of the institution. There were informal
discussions during Spring Semester 2005 with student groups, staff,
faculty, industrial advisors and others about the college vision. Using
this input, during Summer 2005, the college academic administrators
drafted a strategic plan consisting of a vision statement, mission
statement, and priorities. During Fall 2005, this has proceeded through a series of reviews, feedback and revisions with constituents, including Department Chairs, Staff Council, Academic Council, Deans' Student
Advisory Council, department faculty and staff, and the Engineering
College Industrial Advisory Council. This year-long planning process,
culminating in a high-level set of goals, will guide the college in
reviewing and developing initiatives and outcomes to achieve its goals
on an annual basis.
