activities including…
- Engineers’ Week: A time for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and corporate partners to celebrate their commitment to engineering at Iowa State.
- First Lego League: An international program for children ages 9-14 that combines a hands-on, interactive robotics program with a sports-like atmosphere. Teams consist of up to 10 players with the focus on such things as team building, problem solving, creativity, and analytical thinking.
- Leadership through Engineering Academic
Diversity (LEAD): LEAD is geared to academic success and professional development for multi-cultural students.
- Senior Visitation: Senior Visitation Day, when high school students from across the Midwest can explore the opportunities that come with an engineering education at Iowa State
- Evening with Engineering: Evening with Engineering is a special night program that provides new minority students with the opportunity to experience campus life and learn more about the diversified curricula of the College of Engineering. Consider it the kick-off for Scholars' Day!
- Scholars Day: About 125 students plus family members attend Scholars' Day. Their schedule includes tours and sessions on engineering topics ranging from ceramic bone implants to information warfare. Representatives from corporations discuss career opportunities.
- Society for Hispanic Engineers’ Shadow Day
- Society of Women Engineers’ Sleepover: an opportunity for high school girls to learn about the College of Engineering and the organization in an informal setting.
- National Society of Black Engineers’ Life as an Engineer
- Toying With Technology: "Toying With Technology" is designed to explain the principles behind many of the technological innovations in wide use today which is accomplished through hands-on laboratory experiences based upon simple systems constructed out of LEGOs® and controlled by small microcomputers.
- Investigation Through the Iowa Communications Network: An Iowa Communications Network (ICN) program conducted from the Iowa State campus to 10 Iowa high schools to teach students what engineering is all about. The engineering outreach program is designed to get high school students interested in studying engineering
- Engineering Honors Workshop: Summer workshop for high school seniors to explore the meaning, role and types of engineering; hosted by ISU Engineering faculty and staff.
- Internet Explorers: Summer program to encourage women to enter science and engineering fields. The program provides internships for high school seniors every summer. These girls design web pages on science related topics that are aimed at middle school aged girls to interest them in science and engineering.
- Program for Women in Science and Engineering: A program to encourage women and girls of all ethnic backgrounds to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
