Commencement ceremonies and receptions
Next week 400 engineering students (105 graduates and 295 undergraduates) will receive their degrees. The college will host complimentary receptions to recognize and celebrate their accomplishments. Faculty and staff are encouraged to share in the celebrations. Reservations are due by Friday, December 9; use the RSVP links below.

Open forum with ISU administrators
Iowa State President Gregory Geoffroy, Provost Ben Allen, and Vice Provost John Brighton will conduct the annual visit to the College of Engineering on Thursday, December 8. All faculty, staff, and students are invited to attend an open forum from 2:15 to 3:00 p.m. in Alliant Energy-Lee Liu Auditorium, Howe Hall.

Faculty co-chair joins international team
Frank Peters, an IMSE associate professor, has been appointed co-chair of the College of Engineering International Task Team (ITT). He joins Julia Apple-Smith, director of Engineering International Programs and Services, who has chaired ITT since 2000. (News release)

Engineering holiday office hours
College and departmental offices have announced limited hours and staffing for the holiday break. Please see the Intranet for details. All Iowa State University offices are closed Friday, December 23; Monday, December 26; and Monday, January 2.

Retirement reception and seminar
The mechanical engineering department invites you to attend a seminar and reception for Professor Gerald Colver on Tuesday, December 6, 3:30–5:00 p.m. in 1213 Hoover. The event will begin with Colver sharing some highlights from his career and what’s next for him. Refreshments will be served.

Career Expo planned for January 31
Your assistance is requested in publicizing the Engineering Career Expo planned for Tuesday, January 31, 2006, 1:00–7:00 p.m. in Hilton Coliseum. The expo provides a great opportunity early in the semester for students to look for summer, intern, co-op, or full-time positions. It is suggested that you include the event in your spring course materials and/or announce it in your classes.
