Engineers Week begins September 16
Engineers Week 2007, September 16-22, will feature a variety of special events on the theme “Celebrating the Past, Impacting the Future.” E-Week co-chairs David Lantz, aerospace engineering and materials science and engineering, and Megan Morrissey, industrial engineering, have been working with a central committee of 40 students to coordinate the week’s activities, which include a picnic, golf tournament, pancake breakfast, senior visitation day, charity ball, and intramurals. In addition, a career fair is planned for Tuesday, September 18, at Hilton Coliseum. It is expected to draw more than 4,000 students, 900 recruiters, and 300 employers. A schedule of all E-Week events is available on the E-Week Web site.
Invitation to the Engineers Charity Ball

Faculty and staff are invited to attend the Engineers Charity Ball on Saturday, September 22, from 8 p.m. to midnight in the Scheman Continuing Education Building. The Iowa State Ballroom Dance Company will start the evening by giving dance lessons. Music will be provided first by a DJ and later by a jazz ensemble. Tickets are $20 for singles and $17 each for couples and will be sold beginning September 10 in the Marston Hall foyer. Proceeds from the ball will go to the Minds of Tomorrow charity fund. Grants from this fund will be awarded to Iowa K-12 schools to support science and math programs.
‘Tour the World’ on September 11

More than 30 engineering-friendly programs will be featured in the “Tour the World” Engineering Study and Work Abroad Fair on Tuesday, September 11, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. in the Howe Hall atrium. Students, faculty, and staff are welcome to explore the variety of international opportunities available to engineering students. Printed materials will be available to take, and ISU program coordinators, students, and academic advisers will be on hand to answer your questions.
“Tour the World” is sponsored by Engineering International Services and Programs, John Deere, Schneider Electric, and Sauer Danfoss.
