Faculty and staff are invited to the College of Engineering Convocation on Wednesday, August 25, at 3:10 p.m. in Alliant Energy-Lee Liu Auditorium, Howe Hall. Interim Dean Charles Glatz will share a few thoughts on the coming year and will introduce Mark Kushner, who will formally join the college as dean on January 1, 2005.

The convocation program also features recognition of six faculty and staff members who will be presented college awards for their outstanding accomplishments and the three recipients of the Dean’s Leadership Award. The awardees are:
- Superior Engineering Advisor Award—Steve Mickelson, ABE
- Superior Engineering Teacher Award—Kenneth Mark Bryden, ME
- Superior Engineering Extension Award—Mark Hanna, ABE
- Young Engineering Faculty Research Award—Ashraf Bastawros, AerE
- David R. Boylan Eminent Faculty Award for Research—John Tannehill, AerE
- Dean’s Staff Excellence Award—Ellen Reints, Administration
- 2004 Dean’s Leadership Award—Rebecca A. Black, CptrE; Amy Dee Schlechte, AgE; Peter J. Sudbeck, ME.
A reception following the program provides a great opportunity to meet new faculty and staff and congratulate the college award winners. See you Wednesday!
Join Interim Dean Charles Glatz and Incoming Dean Mark Kushner in greeting alums at the 14th annual College of Engineering’s tailgate party on September 18. The party will begin two hours prior to the start of the game that matches the Iowa State Cyclones with the Northern Illinois Huskies. As a special feature this year, tables will be grouped by departments to help alumni reconnect with faculty, former classmates, and other alums. Tailgate tickets are $15 for ages 10 and over; kids under 10 are free. Tickets for the tailgate/football package are $40 for all ages. Click here to register on line.
