Meet AerE student John Hooker

John D. HookerAerospace engineering senior John D. Hooker might be calling you during the next few weeks. He is one of a dozen Iowa State University Foundation callers reaching out to engineering alumni to ask for support for the College of Engineering. Hooker, who began working for the Foundation last summer, loves talking to alumni about the great things happening in the college and to learn about their experiences at Iowa State.

Hooker had planned to attend school in Illinois, where he grew up, but a visit to Iowa State and a tour of the AerE department convinced him this was the place for him to prepare for a career in the aeronautics industry. Since arriving in 2006, he’s helped design a rocket for a national competition, is currently getting hands-on design experience with the Iowa State business jet, and just last semester completed his required six hours of flying experience.

When you receive a call from Iowa State University, please take a few minutes to chat with a student such as John about the new things happening on campus and how your support will help attract and retain outstanding students in the College of Engineering.

Dean Bernard will give a briefing on the latest news from campus, and we will hand out one or two prizes to lucky alums. The reception will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on March 24 at Westside Tennis and Fitness, 1200 Wilcrest, Houston, Texas.
