Wickert named College of Engineering dean
Jonathan Wickert, chair of the Iowa State Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Larry and Pam Pithan Professor of Mechanical Engineering, has been appointed as dean of the College of Engineering effective July 1. He succeeds Dean Mark J. Kushner, who joined the University of Michigan faculty in September 2008. James Bernard, Anson Marston Distinguished Professor of Engineering, has served as interim dean.
"Dr. Wickert is an extraordinary communicator, with the ability to bring people together to work toward one common vision," said Bernard. "His leadership and commitment to success will serve the college and university well." In his new role as dean, Wickert will combine the strong legacy of the college with the talents of faculty, researchers, and students to address the current and future needs of society. Innovate: Magazine, survey in your mailbox
It’s April, and that means the latest issue of Innovate, the College of Engineering’s research magazine, will soon hit your mailbox. This spring we focus on the biosciences and engineering cluster area, featuring some of the cutting-edge work that faculty are conducting in this critical field.
With this issue the college kicks off its fourth year of Innovate, so we thought it might be a good time to hear from you, our alumni and readers, on what you like about the magazine--and where we might do better. Earlier this month we e-mailed a survey to many of you, and we’ve been gratified with the response so far. If you haven’t taken the survey yet, please consider giving us the benefit of your insight and opinions by clicking this link. And thanks for reading Innovate!
