Purpose of MES

The main objective for proposing the minor in Engineering Studies is to provide technological education to non-engineering students with various backgrounds.

Iowa State University of Science and Technology is a land-grant university and the College of Engineering is offering this program, so that no Iowa State University student will be excluded due to insufficient prior preparation in mathematics or the sciences.

The purpose of the program is to provide technological literacy to non-engineering students. The required courses in the minor and many of the elective courses are specifically designed to offer a range of prerequisites, so that students from all majors will find coursework that supports an accessible and intellectually stimulating program of study.
