ABET Outcomes (a-k) 

  1. An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering. 
  2. An ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data. 
  3. An ability to design a system, component, or process to met desired needs. 
  4. An Ability to function on multi-disciplinary teams. 
  5. And ability to identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems. 
  6. An understanding of professional and ethical responsibility.
  7. An ability to communicate effectively. 
  8. The broad education necessary to understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global & societal context. 
  9. A recognition of the need for, and an ability to engage in life-long learning. 
  10. A knowledge of contemporary issues. 
  11. An ability to use the techniques, skills and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practices. 

Construction Engineering Program Objectives

The overall objective of the Construction Engineering program is to prepare students for life-long careers in the constantly changing technical and managerial environment of the construction industry.

This objective is met by providing:

A broad foundation in mathematics and physical sciences


B-2

A base of engineering and design knowledge and application appropriate to the student’s chosen option of building construction, highway and heavy construction, or electrical and mechanical construction


B-3

A base of knowledge in construction process designs, cost estimating, planning, scheduling and risk assessment


B-4

A basic knowledge of contracts, law, business organization, principles of management and ethical reasoning


B-5

Effective oral, written, and graphical communication abilities to effectively communicate with engineers and non-engineers

Ability to use current technology to meet the above objectives
