B. Accreditation Summary

B.8 Program Criteria (Criterion 8)

These requirements are met through the following means:

B.8.1 Curriculum

Our mission statement directly addresses the goal of educating students so they can "design, implement and manage a wide range of production and service systems with the aim of improving the quality and productivity of these systems." Furthermore, the mission statement emphasizes that instruction will be aimed at developing skills in the areas of "analytical, data-based decision making, computing, communication, teamwork and leadership skills." The entire endeavor of the IE curriculum is geared toward achieving this mission which coincides with the IIE curriculum requirement.

B.8.2 Faculty

Many faculty members are active consultants to industry and/or supervise student projects for industrial clients. This demonstrates that they understand current professional practice. Most are active in research, organizing and attending conferences, presenting and publishing papers, and editing journals. Thus, it is evident that the faculty maintain currency in their respective professional areas.

From that discussion the main responsibility and the authority for this process lies with the program faculty although input on these matters is actively sought from the other key constituents, in particular, students, alumni and employers. For administrative reasons, the responsibility for defining and revising program objectives is delegated to CASCOM, whose recommendations must be approved by the entire IMSE faculty. The program objectives are implemented and achieved by the entire program faculty through teaching, counseling and other interactions with students.
