John Deere "Gold Key"
International Scholarship Program

John Deere is sponsoring $2,000 scholarships for women and minority students to assist with study abroad expenses. 

Recipients are required to participate in a study abroad experience for six weeks or more during the spring, summer, or fall 2009 semester in order to be eligible for the scholarship.  Students must also meet the following criteria:

  • GPA: 2.80 or above
  • Majors:
    Aerospace Engineering
    Agricultural Engineering
    Computer Engineering
    Electrical Engineering
    Industrial Engineering
    Materials Engineering
    Mechanical Engineering

Preference will be given to students who have a fourth semester level or equivalent in a foreign language and have not previously received this scholarship.

Students need to:

  • Study abroad for a minimum of six weeks or more;
  • Attach a 250-word essay indicating their reasons for going abroad and explaining how the award will enhance the quality of their experience and how they plan to integrate their international experience into academic, community, professional, and extracurricular activities;
  • Volunteer to talk about their international experience to ISU students and within the John Deere organization, as requested, and provide a written testimonial of their international experience.
