Jera Wiliams: University of Newcastle I received some wonderful comments about my study abroad experience from all of the prospective employers that I talked to at the Engineering Career Fair. Most often the experience was one of the first things the recruiters asked about. -Some of the bigger companies were impressed because they have international firms, so they knew I would not have a problem going overseas again. -On the other hand, smaller companies were impressed for a different reason. If I worked for them I would probably never be sent abroad, but they know I have been exposed to another culture. This shows that if the company were to have a client from a different culture, I would be able to understand the needs of that client. -The study abroad experience was also a great way to set myself apart from other students. It shows that I'm more driven and willing to do some things that take a little more effort. It also shows that I am independent and willing to take on responsibility. I sincerely hope this little note helps to encourage more students to study abroad. I really enjoyed my semester in Australia and I am reaping in the benefits of my experience.
