Incoming ELP Class of 2006 Scholar Biographies
Alexandra is a junior majoring in Aerospace Engineering. She is an active member of the Alpha Sigma Kappa-Women in Technical Studies Sorority. In her free time Alexandra enjoys sculpting ceramics, watching old movies, and reading. Within her major, Alex is interested in spacecraft and propulsion systems. After working for the Center for Nondestructive Evaluation, Alex is also planning to complete a minor in NDE. After completing her undergraduate degree, she plans to pursue a Master's and Doctoral degrees in Aerospace Engineering.
Jon is a junior majoring in Mechanical Engineering and is involved with the Air Force ROTC program. In his free time Jon enjoys swimming, running, playing card games, and hanging out with friends. After completing his undergraduate degree, Jon plans on going directly into industry.
Ashley is a junior majoring in Computer Engineering. She is currently involved with the Freshman Honors Program and in her free time Ashley enjoys playing volleyball, painting, and spending time with friends and family. Within her major, Ashley is interested in security and cryptography. After completing her undergraduate degree, she plans to pursue a Master's in Computer Engineering.
Mike is a junior majoring in Chemical Engineering. Mike has been involved in ELP as an associate director, a scholar, and as a peer mentor. In the upcoming year Mike is looking forward to getting more involved with research and furthering his leadership learning project which focuses on health care in the developing world.
Mike plans on continuing to participate in many intramural sports as well as working and volunteering at the hospital. Within Chemical Engineering, Mike is interested in biomedical applications.
After completing his undergraduate degree, Mike plans on going to graduate school.
Ryan is a junior majoring in Mechanical engineering and
pre-medical studies. In his free time, Ryan is an active
member of the ISU skydiving club and waterski club.
After completing his undergraduate degree, Ryan plans on
going to graduate school.
T.J. is
a junior majoring in Agricultural and Biosystems
Engineering. He is a member of the Delta Tau Delta
Fraternity and is also involved with the President’s
Leadership Class. In his free time he enjoys farming,
wrestling, running, 4-H, showing cattle and hogs, and
woodworking. Within his major, T.J. is interested
in developing methods to make farming more efficient.
After completing his undergraduate degree, T.J. plans on
going directly into industry.
Brad is
a junior majoring in
Construction Engineering. He is a member of the
Delta Tau Delta Fraternity and is participated
in the Freshman Honors Program and Freshman Honors
Mentor Program. This year he joined AGC and the
Construction Engineering learning community. In his free time
Brad enjoys playing sports, watching football, listening
to music, and hanging out with friends.
After
completing his undergraduate degree, Brad plans on going
directly into industry, with the possibility of
returning to business school in the future.
Elif is a junior majoring in Chemical Engineering with a minor in genetics. She is involved in TEAM, Committee on Lectures, Minds of Tomorrow, and Engineering Thematic Year.
In her free time Elif enjoys dancing, listening to music, and spending time with friends and family. Within Chemical Engineering, Elif is interested in combining the power of genetics with chemical engineering in an effort to treat/prevent/cure genetic diseases. She participated in a Co-op with Dow Chemical for two terms.
After completing her undergraduate degree, Elif plans on obtaining her Master's Degree in Genetics and Ph D in Chemical Engineering.
Adam is a junior majoring in Electrical Engineering and minoring in Political Science.
He is an active member of Alpha Kappa Lambda Fraternity. Adam is also a mentor for
the Electrical Engineering Learning Community and helps Mani Mina with the EE 186
labs. In his free time Adam enjoys running long distances, watching movies, having fun
with friends, and learning random useless facts. After college, Adam plans to work in
industry while working towards his MBA.
Leo is
a
junior majoring in Engineering. In his free
time Leo enjoys listening to music, playing racquetball,
and hacky sack. As an engineering undergraduate,
Leo is interested in studying materials. After
completing his undergraduate degree, Leo plans on
working in industry.
Jessica is a junior majoring in Chemical Engineering. She is involved in VEISHEA, Homecoming, Engineers’ Week, Frederiksen Court Community Council, and is a peer mentor for WiSE. This year, she is looking forward to meeting all the incoming scholars as a Year 1 seminar TA while continuing her work to improve her Leadership Learning Project, the Ada Hayden Scholars Program. In her free time Jessica enjoys reading, hanging out with her friends, listening to music, playing volleyball, and traveling. Within Chemical Engineering, Jessica is interested in food science applications and recently completed a summer internship with General Mills. After completing her undergraduate degree, Jessica plans on entering industry while continuing her education.
Heather is a junior
majoring in Mechanical Engineering and is a member of
the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. She is also on the
Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Outreach Committee,
Dance Marathon Operations Committee, and is the Peer
Mentor Coordinator for ELP. In her free time Heather
enjoys reading, going on walks, playing volleyball,
traveling, and biking. Within Mechanical Engineering,
Heather is interested in manufacturing and quality.
After completing her undergraduate degree, Heather plans
on working in industry while pursuing an MBA. She also
hopes to have the opportunity to work abroad at some
point in her career.
