Year 2-4: Developing as a Leader
The years following the first year experience are driven by the individual student's interests and passions. The core components of the final years of the program include Leadership Seminar, Leadership Learning Projects, Personal Leadership Portfolio Development, and Leadership Learning Experiences. These components are explained in detail below:
Leadership Seminar A designated hour once a week in which the students are required to actively participate. Objectives: To sustain the sense of community and continue to build on relationships developed during the first year
Leadership Learning Project: An ongoing, long-term leadership experience/project selected by the individual, to address an issue or a challenge faced by a group or community. Objectives: To develop expertise – to investigate a professional or personal area of interest in depth. To contribute – to make a substantial contribution to the proposed professional or personal area of interest. To learn- to further develop competencies outlined in the ELP Leadership Model
Personal Leadership
Portfolio (e-Doc) An electronic repository for personal goal setting, reflection and tracking development; includes an opportunity to showcase artifacts demonstrating progress and growth in specific leadership competencies from the ELP Leadership Model. Objectives: To organize personal goals and track progress towards achieving those goals. To organize experiences, events, artifacts and reflections relating to personal leadership development. To connect external reviewers to students and provide a space for constructive feedback To provide data for ELP program evaluation
Leadership Learning Experiences: Experiences both on and off campus selected and pursued by the individual which contribute to personal leadership development. Objectives: To encourage scholars to explore a broad range of learning experiences. To grow in areas of personal and professional interest. |
