| Faculty Excellence James Baker, ABE, received a Superior Paper Award from the American Society of Agricultural Engineers. David Boylan, Jr., ChemE, was named to the 50-Year Club of the American Chemical Society. Kenneth Brewer, CCE, received the Distinguished Service Award from the Iowa Engineering Society. Dwaine Bundy, ABE, received a Superior Paper Award from the American Society of Agricultural Engineers. Degang Chen, ECpE, was named a 1999 Boeing-A.D. Welliver Faculty Fellow. Dale Chimenti, AEEM, was elected Fellow of the Acoustical Society of America. Thomas Colvin, ABE, received an Honorable Mention Paper Award from the American Society of Agricultural Engineers. Warren DeVries, ME, was named to the 1999 College of Fellows of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. Arv Eide, ME, was named a Fellow of the American Society for Engineering Education. Mark Federle, CCE, received the Leadership Award from the Master Builders of Iowa. Alison Flatau, AEEM, was named Faculty Advisor of the Year for Region V of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Charles Glatz, ChemE, received the Distinguished Scientist Award from the Iowa Academy of Sciences. Karl Gschneidner, Jr., MSE, was named the 1998 Iowa Distinguished Faculty in Engineering Lecturer, and received the Award of Excellence for a Technical Paper at the 50th Annual International Appliance Technical Conference. Jay Harmon, ABE, received an Honorable Mention Paper Award from the American Society of Agricultural Engineers, and was named Young Engineer of the Year by the Iowa Section of the American Society of Agricultural Engineers. Steven Hoff, ABE, received the Chairman’s Citation from the Structures and Environment Division of the American Society of Agricultural Engineers. Edward Kannel, CCE, received the Air Force National Guard and Reserves’ Certificate of Appreciation for Employer Support. Rameshwar Kanwar, ABE, received the Indian Council of Agricultural Research Recognition Plaque. Matthew Kramer, MSE, was honored for Outstanding Scientific Accomplishment in the Department of Energy’s Materials Sciences Research Competition. Thomas Lograsso, MSE, was honored for Outstanding Scientific Accomplishment in the Department of Energy’s Materials Sciences Research Competition. William Lord, ECpE, was named Fellow of the American Society for Nondestructive Testing and was selected to receive their 2000 ASNT Lester Honor Lecture Award. James Melsa, ECpE, was named to the Board of Examiners for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, National Institute of Standards and Technology. Stewart Melvin, ABE, was elected Fellow of the American Society of Agricultural Engineers. Manjit Misra, ABE, received the President’s Distinguished Service Award from the American Seed Trade Association and the Certificate of Excellence for Education Material from the American Society of Agronomy. Palaniappa Molian, ME, was named Outstanding Reviewer, American Society of Mechanical Engineers Journal of Manufacturing Science and Engineering. Ted Okiishi, ME, received the 1998 Melville Medal from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. James Oliver, ME, received the 1999 Gustus L. Larson Memorial Award from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and Pi Tau Sigma. Vitalij Pecharsky, MSE, received the Award of Excellence for a Technical Paper at the 50th Annual International Appliance Technical Conference. Max Porter, CCE, was named Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers, received the President’s Award from The Masonry Society, and received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Structural Engineering Institute. Frank Rizzo, AEEM, was elected Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. James Rowings, CCE, received the Recognition for Leadership in Education Award from the Master Builders of Iowa. Arun Somani, ECpE, was elected Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Daniel Sordelet, MSE, was honored for Outstanding Scientific Accomplishment in the Department of Energy’s Materials Sciences Research Competition. Reginald Souleyrette, CCE, was named Distinguished Lecturer by the MidAmerican Transportation Center. John Tannehill, AEEM, was elected Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Judy Vance, ME, received the Best Paper Award at the 1998 MacNeal Schwendler Corporation America Users’ Conference.
