Thompson earns engineering's highest honor
R. Bruce Thompson, distinguished professor in two disciplines—aerospace engineering and materials science and engineering—and director of Iowa State’s Center for Nondestructive Evaluation (CNDE), has been elected to the National Academy of Engineering. According to the NAE citation, Thompson was named “for outstanding contributions to nondestructive evaluation, materials processing, and life-cycle management, and for the development of novel ultrasonic technology.”

Winds of change blowing through Howe Hall
Partha Sarkar wants to bring the winds of change to building codes. More specifically, he wants to construct buildings that have a better chance of withstanding tornados and other wind-damaging events.

Recent gifts
The College of Engineering recently received several major gifts, which were made through the Iowa State University Foundation, a private, non-profit corporation dedicated to securing and managing gifts and grants that benefit Iowa State.
