Principles of learning
GlossaryRichard M. Felder, ChemE professor at North Carolina State and a pioneer in student-based instruction in college defines the following. Student-centered instruction: a broad approach that includes active learning experiences, open-ended problems and problems requiring critical or creative thinking. Active learning: students solve problems, answer questions, formulate questions of their own, discuss, explain, debate, or brainstorm in class. Cooperative learning: students work in teams on problems and projects under conditions that assure both positive interdependence and individual accountability. |
