Faculty Excellence

Mufit Akinc, MSE professor and chair, will serve on the President's Faculty Advisory Board of the American Ceramic Society.

James Baker, ABE professor, received a Group Honor Award for Excellence from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

John Cleasby, CCE professor emeritus, received the 1997 Abel Wolman Award of Excellence from the American Water Works Association.

Warren DeVries, ME professor and chair, was elected Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers International.

L.K. Doraiswamy, ChemE distinguished professor, was elected Fellow of the Third World Academy of Sciences.

Karl Gschneidner, Jr., MSE distinguished professor, was elected to the Board of the Cryogenic Engineering Conference.

David Jiles, ECpE and MSE professor, was elected Fellow of the American Physical Society, and was selected for the 1998 Who's Who in Science and Engineering.

Rameshwar Kanwar, ABE professor, was named an honorary professor at China Agricultural University and at Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers.

William Lord, ECpE distinguished professor, received the American Society for Nondestructive Testing Fellowship Award.

Greg Luecke, ME assistant professor, won a Faculty Advisor Award from the International Engineering Society for Advancing Mobility on Land, Sea, Air, and Space.

Kenneth McConnell, AEEM professor, received the D.J. DeMichele Award at the International Modal Analysis Conference.

Joshua Otaigbe, MSE assistant professor, received the ANTEC '97 Best Paper Award in the Polyolefins Category from The Society of Plastics Engineers, Thermoplastic Materials and Foams Division.

Michael Pate, ME professor, received the Best Technical Paper Award from the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers.

Charles Schwab, ABE associate professor, received an Education Aids Blue Ribbon award from the American Society of Agricultural Engineers.

Gerald Sheblé, ECpE professor, was elected Fellow of The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

Vijay Vittal, ECpE professor, was elected Fellow of The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

Hongwei Xin, ABE assistant professor, was made an honorary professor at China Agricultural University, and earned two Superior Paper Awards from the American Society of Agricultural Engineers.
