College’s career services open to alums

We’re extending the College of Engineering’s career services to alumni of all ages, especially those living outside the state.

Concerned about the growing need for experienced engineers, the college has created a new, fully automated service to match experienced professionals with employment opportunities. Called ECSOnline, the new service provides free 24-hour access to resume development and referral, job postings, and interview schedules of companies looking for ISU engineering alumni.

Previously, these services have been available only to current students. Engineering Career Services recently sent letters about the service to a small group of alumni inviting them to use the service. However, any ISU engineering graduate may now use the service.

“Clearly, there is a need for people with engineering experience,” said Loni Pringnitz, ECS assistant director. “Engineering employment opportunities in Iowa alone are expected to grow dramatically through the year 2005.”

According to Pringnitz, projected growth will be especially dramatic in civil, electrical, computer, and industrial and manufacturing systems engineering. Jobs in computer engineering are expected to increase by more than 100 percent.

Alumni may register with ECSOnline by sending their name, social security number, and e-mail address to: ecsalumni@iastate.edu. Additional details on accessing and using the service will be sent via return e-mail. Questions about the new service may be sent to the same e-mail address.
