Materials Engineering Hometown: Mankato, MN
Best part of being an Iowa
State student: The variety! With so many
students, clubs, sports, and classes, there is
always something interesting going on.
What was your favorite class:
Mat E 211 because I was able to take it in England!
It was a bonus that the professor made the material
very interesting.
Research: I work
as a research assistant
on campus. We work to
maximize the thermal properties of a thermosetting
polymer by adding various components. This polymer
will then be used in a wrap-application to repair
high-temperature (at or above 150 C) metallic pipes.
Learning Team: I
also work as the leader of a
learning team comprised
of freshman undecided Engineering students. The
learning team gives them a chance to help each other
with homework and to learn and develop teamwork
skills.
Dream Job: Getting
paid by a company to work from my house and develop
new plastics in my kitchen.
Advice to New Students: Visit
campus while classes are in session and meet some
professors to get a real feel for ISU.
