Dan
Electrical Engineering
Hometown: Albert Lea, MN

Why Iowa State: Because of its strong reputation in engineering and the campus itself. I like the open space on central campus.

Best part of being an Iowa State student: The opportunities! We have a great recreation center, several student clubs, and many resources to help you with your education–like supplemental instruction and learning communities.

About Semiconductors: This is my research area. Semiconductors are everywhere–the Flash memory for your USB drive, solar cells, and laptop displays are all examples.

Dream Job: Product development engineer at a semiconductor fabrication facility. I would look at the whole process of how a semiconductor is designed, manufactured, and tested.

Advice to New Students: Live in the residence halls and really get to know those people, get involved in a few student organizations, and study!
