Best part of being an Iowa
State student: Learning the ability to
balance school and extra activities. ISU creates an
atmosphere to succeed academically by providing
technologies in the classroom and supporting
students' participation in activities like football
games, clubs and especially for me being a member of
the ISU Symphony Orchestra.
Why did you choose Iowa
State: I participated in an ISU
program called the
Academic Program for EXcellence (APEX) which
allowed students to take classes and familiarize
themselves with Ames and the campus during the
summer before their freshmen year. It was a great
way to get a head start on classes, get to know
campus buildings and learn the Cyride schedule.
Dream Job: To work for a
consulting engineering firm to design heating
ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems
or work in production management for an industry. I
really like wearing hard hats.
Clubs:
I’m a member of the ISU solar car team,
Team PrISUm.
I joined my freshmen year because it was a great
opportunity to work on a full scale project that
involves designing, constructing and racing a solar
car. I joined the mechanical team of Team PrISUm
because it allowed me to get hands on experience
working with carbon fiber, body work and assembling
mechanical systems of the car.
Advice to New Students: Don’t be
afraid to ask questions and for help. Take advantage
of the academic services ISU offers and get involved
on campus!
