Best part of being an Iowa State student: There is always something going on and plenty of opportunities to get involved.

Dream Job: I would love to work for a company that works on sizable projects like hotel/casinos, stadiums, or large office buildings.  I think it would be a tremendous sense of accomplishment to have worked from start to finish on a project of such grand proportions.

Study Abroad: I spent a semester studying in Newcastle, Australia through ISU’s study abroad department.  It definitely was an unforgettable experience traveling all of Australia and even Thailand, Singapore, and Fiji. And of course studying was a good time too!

Work Experience: I had a summer internship with Perini Building Company in Las Vegas, NV.  I was working on the $7 billion MGM City Center project right along the strip in Vegas!  It was great to experience how things in the classroom are applied out on a job site.

Minor: I’m earning a minor in design studies.  This requires me to take a variety of architecture and city planning classes.  Having this combined with my Civil Engineering degree will help me to land a job with a structural design firm.

Advice to New Students: Stay organized and don’t procrastinate. Teachers usually give you a few days or even a few weeks to get some assignments done, so manage your time and don’t save them till the last minute.
