Agricultural Engineering
Hometown: Douds, IA
Best part of being an Iowa
State student:
Getting to know people on campus. You make a
personal connection with faculty, staff, and
students – that’s important!
Why Agricultural Engineering:
I grew up on a farm and helped my dad with
machinery. My emphasis area is Power and Machinery –
definitely a hands-on area!
Double Degree: I have
two majors – Ag Engineering and Ag Education. I plan
to work as an engineer first then eventually go into
teaching.
Research with Professors:
We tested
the biosecurity of a chicken disease that is similar
to foot-and-mouth. The professor wanted to see if we
could control the spread of disease though regular
materials like manure, hay, and silage.
Dream Job:
I want to work with a team of people fixing design
flaws. Being in a field where you work on the edge
of technology while being creative is very exciting!
Advice to New Students: Try everything
once!
