Obtaining Licenses for SGI Products If you have a machine that is covered under the Varsity Software Maintenance, you may need to obtain a few software licenses before you can use some of the Varsity Software. Before you may request licenses, you must become a registered SurfZone member and you must be an SGI authorized caller. If you are not a SurfZone member, REGISTER NOW! If you are not an authorized caller, you must have one request your licenses for you. Be sure to send them the following information:

Requesting the License(s) Since authorized callers are the only individuals that are allowed to request licenses through SGI, this section will most likely only be of interest to them. The easiest way to request a permanent license is to go to the SGI Software Licensing pages. Once there, under the heading License Requests:, click on the Permanent link. Once the Permanent License request form comes up, click on the button to acknowledge that you have purchased your software Through the Varsity Program. Then state whether the license will be a New license or a license Upgrade. Finally, click on the Get a License button. A popup box will appear prompting you for your SurfZone username and password. Once you key that in, you will be presented with a page displaying your current SurfZone registration information. If anything needs changed, you have the option of changing it here or continuing on to the next step for obtaining a license. Now you should be at the Key-O-Matic page. It is time to fill out the final license request form. Select all nodelocked licenses you wish to receive by clicking on the name of the application under the Nodelocked list. Then click on any Floating licenses you need under the Floating (Concurrent) list. Next enter the hostname of your machine, which can be determined by executing "uname -n" in a UNIX shell on the machine. Then enter the System ID, found by executing "/etc/sysinfo -s". Click on the box indicating the System Type. Finally enter the IRIX version, determined by "uname -r". Now you may click on SUBMIT to submit the request. You should receive the license keys within the next week. |
