Tightening Up Security

Security is such a broad topic there is no way I can possibly begin to cover everything it would take to secure your SGI. Rather than attempting to blindly cover all aspects of system security that I feel you may be concerned about, I have decided to point you in the direction of a few key SGI security sites that I have visited in the past. They will help you close up some basic holes and lead you towards in depth security discussions as well as useful security related tools.

Recommendations

One recommendation that I would like to make is that you install the program TCPWrapper on your system. This program allows for monitoring and control of connections via tftp, exec, ftp, rsh, telnet, rlogin, finger, and systat ports. It should prove to be an effective mechanism for discouraging most intruders from bothering your system(s).
