Officer Descriptions
President
The President shall oversee the Executive Board, schedule meetings, set agenda, and preside over both general and executive meetings.
Travel Chair
The Travel Chair shall oversee the Travel committee and plan trips outside of Ames that expose students to Iowa/American culture.
This
semester the Travel committee is planning a day trip to
Des Moines and a trip to a working farm that includes
camping over night.
Social Chair
The Social Chair shall oversee the Social committee, be responsible for the organization of CAFÉs (activities designed to Create A Fellowship of Engineers in the organization), events for international students to share their home culture and other social activities which promote SIE member interaction.
This
semester the Social committee will plan all of the
CAFÉ’s, a trip to Seven Oaks Skiing and Tubing and
coordinate intramural teams.
Outreach Chair
The Outreach Chair shall oversee the Outreach committee, as well as coordinate and publicize all Outreach events for both prospective and current students including (but not limited to) recruiting for the TAPA Team (Talking About Programs Abroad) [was Speaker's Bureau], Information Night, T-shirts and displays.
This semester the Outreach committee will plan the NSBE
conference, coordinate the K-12 outreach program and
coordinate any study abroad outreach efforts.
Hospitality Chair
The Hospitality Chair shall oversee the Hospitality Committee, work with EIP to organize a Welcome and Bon Voyage party each semester for international engineering exchange students and coordinate mentors for the international engineering exchange students by pairing them with American Ambassadors (SIE Partners Program). The Hospitality Chair shall also publicize hospitality events.
This
semester the Hospitality committee will plan the
International Partner’s Program events and Bon Voyage
celebration.
Communications Chair
The Communications Chair shall maintain a calendar of events, record attendance and minutes at both executive and general meetings, publicize meeting minutes no later than one week after each meeting, maintain a web page, disseminate pertinent information to the general membership, work with EIP staff to maintain e-mail lists, and assist the other Vice Presidents with publicity as necessary.
This semester the Communications committee will
compile a bi-weekly newsletter, update the SIE display
board and publicize SIE events.
Financial Chair
The E-Council Representative/ Treasurer shall maintain a budget for the organization, represent the organization at Engineering Student Council meetings and complete the steps necessary to receive funding from Engineering Student Council, as well as coordinate efforts for general fundraising as necessary.
This
semester the the Financial committee will coordinate and
plan fundraising efforts such as selling hot drinks on
campus and request funding from ESC.
International Student Representative
The International Student Representative shall provide feedback and opinions to the executive board on behalf of the international engineering exchange students. This position is reserved for an international engineering exchange student.
Student Advisor
The Student Advisor shall work as an employee for Engineering International Programs, advise and assist the Executive Board as needed, ensure the organization is following this Constitution, and help to maintain continuity from year to year. During times of vacancy in any office, before that office is filled, the Student Advisor shall assume the responsibility for that office and may delegate responsibilities as necessary and appropriate.
Main Advisor
The Main Advisor shall lend insight to the Executive Board and assist them as necessary. Questions or concerns from Ambassadors and Friends should be directed to the main advisor who will consult with the Director of International Programs.
Director of International Programs
& Services
The Director shall lend insight to the Executive Board, assist both the Main Advisor and the Executive Board as necessary, and serve as a backup advisor in the absence of Main Advisor.
